Alabama 3rd Alpha Unit Camp Out

by | Mar 27, 2017 | ALERT Cadet, Camp Reports

This is our unit campout at David Crockett State Park in Lawrenceburg, TN. We arrived Thursday afternoon and left Saturday afternoon just as rain was arriving. We had four fathers with six sons. (One of our families couldn’t make it.) We studied the book of Philippians in five sessions reading through the book twice – an overview of the entire book on Thursday evening, Chapter 1 Friday morning, Chapter 2 Friday evening, Chapter 3 Saturday morning, and Chapter 4 Saturday afternoon. Our service project was helping the Park Rangers with a couple of downed trees that needed splitting into firewood. (Tennessee State Parks asks that ALL campfires be made with heat-treated wood or downed wood collected inside the park, near the campsite.) We hiked Park trails along Shoal Creek and part of the Trail of Tears. We also visited the Park Aviary which had hawks and owls. We biked on Park bike trails just before the rain arrived on Saturday. We also visited an Amish community in nearby Ethridge, TN. It was good.
