In addition to the already publicized opportunity to replace existing skill projects in the Handbooks with Specialties listed on our website, we are inviting you to use a Specialist Project that is on the website and in effect turn it into a Specialty for the purpose of application.
The difference between a Specialist Project and a Specialty is that the Specialist Project does not contain assignments to be completed. They were written to provide instruction.
In order to expand the range of skill topics that you might substitute as you work through the Handbooks, we are offering all the skills that are contained in either Specialties or Specialist Projects. Using a Specialist Project means more work in that you must design the application of the skill that is being learned. You may use the skill application projects contained in the Handbooks as templates for creating questions and assignments for the Specialist Project that you are substituting.
Note that, if you choose not to learn a skill contained in a Handbook, you are not required to substitute with either a Specialty or Specialist Project. You are free to choose any skill you want to learn or further develop, whether or not the skill is listed on our website as a Specialist Project or Specialty. You are required to make application of what is being learned and document it, which must be of equal substance with what is in the Handbook.
If you have a question or want guidance in picking a skill or developing the application, I can be reached at [email protected] or 413-575-4560.
