Family Devotions

by | Feb 18, 2026 | ALERT Cadet, All News

Have you thought about using elements of a Handbook for developing family devotions?  It is yet another way to maintain the priority of the spiritual needs of the whole family while at the same time making progress on your own discipleship growth.

The Bible verses you are memorizing and studying in a Phase Booklet could be the topic of several family devotions.  The rest of the family benefits from your meditations and word studies, and each family member contributes to your understanding of the passage.  In this way you are amplifying the Scriptures for each other.

While you are at it, encourage other family members to be involved in memorizing, meditating, and doing word studies.  Be creative in providing incentives for their progress.

Similarly, character studies can become projects for the whole family.  Tailer what is detailed in a Phase Booklet to assist you as a parent in touching heart issues that are presenting problems in the home.

There is a time for a dad and son to be together without the rest of the family.  It is up to you as a father to find the balance.  When you have confidence in how you are spending your time, then you are free to involve or not involve others.

With this balance in mind, there is nothing from an ALERT Cadet standpoint to prevent you from making the Handbook skill projects, service projects, adventure activities, or PT a family affair.  Our discipleship ministry needs to enhance the life of the whole family.
