What Journaling Has Done for My Life

by | Feb 18, 2026 | ALERT Cadet, All News, Did You Know?

My heart for journaling is to have the habit of listening to the Holy Spirit.  I want to be hearing from God in His Word. (I now document these treasured messages on my computer.)

Remembering to take the time to journal comes from communicating to my brain that it is important to me.  Consistent journaling is what tells my brain that I want to remember to do it.  This is why the Journal Award requires every-day entries (with appropriate “mercy” exceptions).

The balance is in not letting my journaling time become a ritual or just something that must be done.  Journaling is about growing a relationship with God by taking time to hear from Him.

At some point several years back, I began reading God’s Word to know him more instead of trying to figure out what I needed to do for Him.  This has resulted in a greater motivation to be in the Scriptures.  Now I look forward to getting up early to have undistracted time with our God.  (I have always gotten up early; however, now it is fun!)
