This award is given to ALERT Cadets who participate in significant service projects. To receive the award as a member of a local unit you must be a father or son who has spent at least 25 man-hours of service on projects with a majority of the active (as determined by the Unit Leader) cadets of the unit participating and with the participants averaging 25 man-hours each.
To receive the award as a Third Delta unit member you must be a father or son who has spent at least 25 man-hours of service on projects in which all of the cadets of your family participate, in which all of the cadets of at least one other Third Delta family participate, and in which the participants average 25 man-hours each on these projects. A Third Delta unit member may also receive the award by providing at least 25 man-hours of service working with a unit on projects which qualify that unit for the award if all the cadets of his family participate in these projects.
Travel to and from a service project may be counted towards the 25 man-hours as long as at least 50% of the hours are actual work. A cadet falling short of the Unit Service Award requirements may apply his man-hours toward the requirements for the Personal Service Award. In no event can the same man-hours of service be applied toward both awards.
ALERT Cadet Headquarters ([email protected]) will assist you in determining whether or not a cadet is active and in providing the location and contact information of Third Delta cadets.
