Each activity is designed to develop the spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical parts of your being as you acquire or advance skills in Personal Emergency Preparedness and outdoor survival consisting of survival kit contents, shelter building, fire starting, cooking-fire building, open-fire cooking, distress signaling, water collection and purification, food gathering, and weather forecasting. Note that for part of the week you will bunk indoor and part of the week will require bivouacking. You will take home a greater appreciation that team success depends on the success of each member.
LTC members: You will be tested to think, communicate, and act under pressure. You will refine your ability to calmly and efficiently collect facts, discern outcomes, evaluate risk, make decisions, develop plans, communicate with and lead a team, re-evaluate decisions, make course corrections, clean up your mistakes, process criticism, and debrief in order to thoroughly learn from your experiences.
Dads: You are going to partner with your sons in order to observe, protect, evaluate, advise, and enjoy them. You will instruct, re-enforce progress, and learn new things about some skills and about your sons. Come prepared to see your sons challenged and stretched; then take home refined parenting skills that will benefit all your children as you disciple them in critical thinking and other skills. You dads hold the positions of greatest influence as you collaborate directly with your sons to integrate the purpose of each devotion, teaching, training, briefing, scenario, and debriefing.
Successful completion of the camp earns both the LTC Camp Participation Award and the new Emergency Survival Training Award. As with other ALERT Cadet camps, dads must participate with their sons. The fee is $450 (including a $35 non-refundable registration fee) for dad, plus $95.00 for each son. Note that showers and all mealtime food will be supplied and the packing list will require neither a multi-day backpack nor any special uniform items. To seek a scholarship contact CLt. Col. Doug Dagarin at [email protected] prior to registration. Register before Dec 31, 2021 and receive a 10% discount!
